cp_muhaexye is a preview of crisp and stark things currently in progress by Closed Circuit. Currently unnamed, the project from which this track is sourced has fundamental principles concerning live recording, minimalism, fidelity of production and even closer semblence to (often digital) techno music - the cutting snare in this particular production seems uncannily like a bastard child of the classic 909 snare.

As usual, only mixers tamed in a live context were used to produce sound, with no effects or edits applied (however there is a considerable hard limiter on the overall mix).
Mixers utilised were: Behringer MX1604a, MX2442; Soundcraft Spirit F1.

The visuals were created by feeding an additional no-input mixer (modified Seck) into a television's composite video input - then the result was filmed using a HD camcorder.

Footage of Abigail Sanders' solo performance at Inclusive Improv (Sleepers Bar, Huddersfield) on 2nd November 2010.
Here's the promo text from the Inclusive Improv website:

French Horn with Live Electronics

Part of a continuing mission to extend the possibilities for her instrument, Abigail Sanders will premier her Pure Data patch that allows her control over an ever growing bank of recorded french horn sounds.

Building sonorous textures through cyclic drones, Abigail uses a tactile control which allows improvisatory freedom, but will also include pre-composed pieces that include passages of improvisation.

The structure is as follows:

  1. Cyclic Drones
  2. Lemont by A Sanders
  3. Residuum III - Ghost in the Machine by Ben Gaunt

(Many thanks to Ben for writing a piece for me, tailored toward my obsession with the harmonic series)

Partial Trust - The Noise Upstairs - 12th August 2010 PDF Print E-mail

The ever expanding Noise Upstairs hosted Partial Trust on Wednesday 11th August at The Riverside Cafe (Sheffield S3 8EN) and Thursday 12th August at Fuel (Manchester M20 4AN). Here's the footage from the Manchester gig.

Partial Trust is a collaboration between Richard Knight and Abigail Sanders, exploiting the relationship between unadulterated acoustic and electronic phenomena.

Sourcing from the rich and pure timbres of the French Horn, Abigail emphasises the natural acoustics of the instrument through multiple extended techniques, in a never-ending attempt to synchronize with (or combat against) the diverse range of sounds that the no-input mixer spews forth.

In a clash of regulated feedback, Richard harnesses the elusive delights of two short-circuited audio mixers. Intense and often capricious, these traditionally passive audio devices are teased into subversion, revealing eccentric and diverse personae.
